HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, last night. The House met at 2.30. MR CHAMBERLAIN’S REPLY.

In the House this afternoon tho Speaker read the following cablegram which he had received in reply to the Hotlso’s resolution, passed on .vlomiay evening:—“ Mr Chamberlain has had the honor to receive tho resolution, and is deeply sonsiblo of the high honor paid to him by tho representatives of New Zealand.” Mr Guinness stated that- he had received a cable from Mr Chamberlain in reply to the resolution passed by tho House, saying ho was deeply sensible of the high honor paid to him by the representatives of the New Zeaiaud public. The Domains Act Amendment Bill (Duncan) was read a second time pro forma, and referred to the Lands Committee.

Mr Mills moved the second reading of tho Cook aud other Islands Government Act Amendment Bill to make better provision for the Government of tho Cook Group. LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. The Council met at 2.30. Tho Commissioners’ Bill and Interpretation Act Amendment Bill passed through committee with technical amendments.
