DUNEDIN NEWS.
A FIRE. Per Press Association. Dunedin, last night. A fire broke out at two o’clock this morning in a fancy goods shop in George street. Low Keong’s promises were nearly gutted or the goods damaged by fire and water. Low Keong and family resided over the shop, and the fire iB supposed to have been caused by fire in tbe grate. The premises belong to A. Lees, painter. It is not known whether they are insured. Th 9 stock was insured for £SOO, and the furniture for £350, in the New Zealand office. KILLED BY A TRAIN.
Thomas Hopewell, pelt classer, was killed by the south express near Green Island. It is supposed that he was crossing tbe line after looking after a cow he owned, and did not observe the train. He was a married man. His son was killed three years ago by an explosion of benzine.
