The following report has been received by the Department of Industries and Commerce from Mr Gow, South Africa : Oats : Demand quiet, New Zealand offering as low as 5s lid, c.i.f., without business. Bran; Tone fairly good, prices receded for indent purposes. Potatoes: Market about the same as last report; fairly good enquiry for seed. Good enquiry for onion, market firming, spot wholesale per lb, duty paid. Butter rather better but no higher prices, operators rather frightened to buy New Zealand in view of the expected lower prices in Victoria. Cheese: Wholesale New Zealand 9Jd to 10d per lb. Fowls : Moderate enquiries.

Messrs'Dalgety and Co. have received the following cablegrams, dated London, September 17th Since our last telegram, good to prime mutton tallow is higher by 8d to 6d per cwt. Prime beef tallow is the same. Other descriptions unchanged.”— Wool sales opened firm with upward tendency, especially quality suitable for Continent, greasy fine merino wool. Messrs Dalgety and Co. have received the following cablegram, dated London September 17th:—Frozen lamb and frozen beef market is weak, but prices are not quotably changed.
