SCIIOOU TEACHERS’ SALARIES

Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, last night.

The DuDedin and suburban schools drew the Minister’s attention to the inadequacy of salaries of male assistants at the large schools. Mr Hogben replied that the committees have the option of employing a smaller staff and paying increased salaries under the scale. 1 ‘ He adds : “ The conference seem to desire that their schools should h-ve larger stalls and aud larger salaries as well. _ The Minister is unable to take any action.’ TEACHERS’ SUPERANNUATION BILL.

The Board carried a resolution favoring an early introduction of a Teachers’ Superannuation Bill. RHODES’ SCHOLARSHIPS. The Education Board passed a resolution to-day recommending the trnstees of the will of Mr Cecil Rhodes to fix 25 rather than 22 as the maximum age of scholars.
