WHATATUTD NOTES.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) Mr George Ross was very unfortunate in being burnt out on Tuesday afternoon.* Mr Ross has leased a small section off Mr Guthrie Smith, and was living in a tent with his wife and child till he could get his house built. By some unknown cause the fly of the tent caught fire. Mrs Ross, who was alone, was unable to put it out. She saved a few things, but when she returned to get a bos with sixteen pound notes in it two cartridges went off. and seeing* keg of powder she hastened away to IL Guthrie Smith’s homestead for but they were too late to do any goodA Much sympathy is felt for Mr and Mrs Ross.
