When Mr Irvine delivers the Budget on Tuesday week, he is expected to announce the discontinuance of public servants reduction on salaries, and that the surplus of last (year will be sligjhtly more tlram £153,000. HIGH COURT OFFICERS.
The House, discussing the Estimates, passed £20,000 for the administration of New Guinea. Sir George Turner moved a reduction of £3500 down lor salaries of High Court officers by £2OOO, as arrangements made with the States enabled a reduction to be made. This was carried. CABLE FACILITIES.
As a result of negotiations between the manager of the Pacific cable and the Government, users of the line will get the same facilities as’ the Eastern Extension Company.
