PURIFYING THE TURF.

Per Press Association. Christchurch, last night. A full meeting of the New Zealand Trotting Association was held this afternoon to consider the report of the committee which recently inquired into the management of the Auckland Trotting Club. After hearing all evidence the' following resolution was carried : —“ That the Association, having heard the report of tho delegates and evidence of the witness as taken at the inquiry, is of opinion that the conduct of trotting meetings as carried on by tho Auckland Trotting Club is unsatisfactory, and that it is desirablo that a reconstruction of the Club should at once take place, and that more care in tho election of stewards and officials and in carrying out tho rules is necessary to ensure the passing of the Club’s programmes. This Association specially views with grave displeasure the fact that a steward of tho Club, who was on tho unpaid forfeit list, had been allowed on tho course and had adjudicated on inquiries, and that the secretary had purchased tho privileges of the Club. This Association is of opinion that the offices of starter and haudieapper should be held separately, and that tho secretary should have no paid connection with the working of the totalisator outsido of his duty as secretary of the Club.” The meeting of the Association lasted two hours.
