Drs Lapponi and Mayzoni medical attendants oi the late Pope, publish a defence, in reply to newspaper charges of incompetence. The defence shows that remarka'ble intriguing took place round Pope Leo’s deathbed. Cardinal Rampolla objected to the publication of the true origin of the illness, though the doctors insisted, in order to preserve their reputation. They finally want the fun history of the case published. lhcy gave sealed copies to Cardinal Kainpolla and the Papal Major-Domo.
