MOTU NOTES.

‘ (By Our Own Correspondent.) Spring has already set in. Grass, herbage, and trees are sending forth yorrng 1 growth, while certain fruit trees are budding and also showing their young green . leaves. The lambing season is now well on, and from what I can hear there is every prospect of a good lambing. The weather is very favorable to that end. I notice that Mr T. Carron, who has for some weeks past been touring the Hot Lakes, Auckland and North districts, returned to Motu on Monday, via Taranaki and Hawke’s Bay. He speaks in glowing terms of his extended trip. ° Mr McGregor is at present in the Motu in connection with the erection of hisdairy factory. He is steadily pushing ahead with clearing and carting operations, and expects in the course of the next few weeks to commence the erection of the building. He will make on the ground all milk-cans required by the settlers, also tanks for his factory. The bricks are also to be made near the factory, and two men are already on the ground to commence brick-making. Messrs Hansen and Sons are so busy with their sawmill cutting timber for local requirements, they are compelled to work overtime, and even then they are unable' to cope with the many orders that are l coming to hand. I notice that Mr A. Hickford has growing in bis garden broad-beans, at present in full blossom. This speaks well for the climate of Motu.
