The Townsville Chamber of Commerce supports tho proposals of the Meloourne Chamber with reference to the management of the Pacifio cable and urges that the representation of Australia should be one independent commercial man, not connected with any Government department. Sydney, Aug. 27. The Laud and Income Tax Amendment Bill recoived a hostile reception in the Council. The debate was adjourned for a fortnight.
