LADIES’ CHAMPIONSHIP. Per Press Association. Wellington, last night. The ladies’ golf championship was eontinued to-day in splendid weather. Mrs Collins, tho favorite for the championship, had to scratch owing to an attack of bronchitis. In tho third round Miss Lewis (Auckland) beat Miss Fitzherbert (Hutt) 3 up 2 to play, Mrs Bloomfield (Auckland) beat Mrs Perry (Napier) 4 up 2 to p.ay, Mrs Bidwell (Wairarapa) beat Mrs Cleghorn (Wanganui) 6 up 4 to play, -the semi-final is beiog played this afternoon. Play was continued to-day in connection with tho Ladies’ Championship Golf Tpurnament. Mrs Collins, holder of the Wellington plub’s Championship, was unable to play otying to illnoss. The following are tho results of the championship I Third round t Miss Lewis (Auckland) boat Miss Fitzherbert (Hutt), 3 up, 2 to play ; Mrs Bloomfield (Auckland) beat Mrs Perry (Napier), 4 up, 2 to play ; Mrs Bidwell (Wairarapa) beat Mrs Cleghorn (Wanganui), 6 up, 4 to play ; Mrs Pearce (Wellington) a bye. Fourth round: Miss Lewis beat Mrs ’ Bloomfield, 4 np, 2to play ; Mrs Pearce ! beat Mrs Bidwell, 1 up, at the nineteenth hole.
The final round between Miss Lewis and Mrs Pearee will bo played to-morrow.
