BENDIGO’S FABLE

The members of the Bendigo Stock Exchange telegraphed to the State Governor, regretting Lord Salisbury’s death. The deceased statesman visited Bendigo when a youDg man. A local belief that he lived in a tent and dined off damper and mutton is still cherished.
