MAN SHOOTS HIS DAUGHTER AND HIMSELF. Per Press Association. Napier, last night. News has beon privately received in town of a sensational occurrence at Dannevirke this afternoon. A railway engine-driver named McCluskie attempted to shoot his daughter, and afterwards to commit suicide. He used a revolver, and thegirl immediately, on seeing this presented at her, covered her face with her hands. The bullet passed between her fingers, struck her head, and traversed the • skull for about 3£ inches, and then glanced off without inflicting any serious injury. The man then turned the revolver on himself and fired, the bullet striking his forehead, but failing to penetrate the bone. McCluskie has been arrested and placed under medioa) care.
