HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. r Per Press Association.. WELLINGTON, last night. The House met at 2.30. In reply to Mr Wilford, Sir Joseph Ward stated that a Bill would be introduced noxt day dealing with the project of widening the Hntt road and straightening the railway line. Plans were already prepared for the railway and necessary reclamation works, and the works would be gone or* with as soon as the Bill passed. Mr Ell gave notice to move when the Referendum Bill is in Committee tfidt the initiative be placed in the hands of the people. Mr Seddon presonted a return showing the cost of the Labor Buroau. A long discussion ensued in criticism and defence of the Labor Department. The House rose at 5.30. evening sitting.
' The House resumed at 7.30. Thtf 'Arbitration Court Emergency Bill fco provide for a temporary appointment in the event of a member of the Arbitration Court being absent through illness or other causes was read a second time on the voices. The Premier promised to have the Bill amended to enable the President of the Court to consult the Employers’ Association before he selects a temporary successor to Mr Samuel Brown, whose illness has rendered the Bill noeeßsary. The Supreme Court Judges Bill, relating to the superannuation of Supreme Court judges, was read a second time on the voices.
