TEAM ON THE WAY HOME.
WALLACE REMAINS BEHIND TO NURSE FRACTURED JAW.
SPLENDID SEND-OFF.
By Telegraph—Ptess Association —Copyright I Received 1.10 a.m., Aug. 20. I ' Sydney, Aug. 19. The New Zealand team, with the excep- I tiou of Wallace and Stalker, wore pas3en- I gers by the Mararoa, which left at 8.30 to- j night. They had an enthusiastic send-off from a large gathering of Rugbians, including Union officials, Now Zealanders, and the public. They were loudly cheered. The presentation banner was much in | evidence. The detention of Wallace and Stalker is due to an accident. Wallace, early in the second half of the game, was bumped, but apparently it was not serious. Ho took no notice of it, and played on to tho finish. It was not until after play ceased that it was discovered that his left jaw was fractured. A doctor set it, but as Wallace is a poor sailor he decided that he should rest for a few days before returning home. At tho request of the team Stalker remained behind to look after Wallace, who makes light of the injury.
