FOOTBALL.
TARANAKI DEFEATS WELLINGTON (Per Press Association.) Wellington, last night. The annual Rugby football match between Taranaki and Wellington representatives was played to day, the visitors winning by five points to three. The game was uninteresting, and the play mediocre at all stages. The home team played without combination or energy, and there is no doubt that the worst team lost, v by reason of the witless tactics pursued by v ■ the backs.
