ADDINGTON STOCK SALE.
PRICES FULLY MAINTAINED. DEAREST BEEF MARKET RECORDED. Per Press Association. Christchurch, last night. • There was a good yarding of stock at the Addington yards to-day, aDd the usual attendance of buyers. Generally speaking, the recent high prices were fully maintained, and the market for beef was considered the dearest yet recorded. .Fat cattle: 152 head were yarded, the entry being of mixed quality. For really prime sorts the demand was very brisk, and prices reached a higher mark than has been the case hitherto. For cows £5 10s to £l2 was realised.
I Fat sheep : There was a large entry, though really prime quality was somewhat limited. For the best lines of both ewes and wethers the recent high rates were well maintained, but unfinished sorts were less eagerly competed for. Prime wethers sold at from 22s to 27s 3d, extra heavy 28s 9d to 355, light weights 18s 5d to 21s 3d for prime, These prices given were equal to from 35s to 383 per lOOlbs, while an odd pen or two cost even more. Medium and inferior sorts were not so readily sold, and for these prices were quoted at from 30s to 34s per lOOlbs. Steers sold from £7 os to £l6 10s, heifers £6 to £l3 10s, ewes 19s 7d to 26s 3d. Light and unfinished sorts made from 12s to 18s lOd.
Fat lambs: Only 363 of moderate quality came forward, and prices ranged from 14s 3d to 19s,
Pigs: The entry was the largest for some months, and in consequence prices for porkers receded slightly, though baconers maintained their recent values. Baconers sold from 38s to 603, equal to 5d per lb, porkers 303 to 423, equal to s£d per
