Griffith Boscawen, motnber of the Houbo of Commons for Tonbridge, who on behalf of the Tariff Reform League emphasised that tariff reform opponents made constant misstatements of MrChamberlain’s j proposals, said : “ I never suggested any tax whatever on raw materials such as wool and cotton. I beliovo such a tax on- • tiroly unnecessary for the purposes in view. Regarding food thero is nothing in the policy of the tariff reform submitted to the country which need increase iu the slightest the cost of living of any family.
