THE WEATHER.

Napior, Saturday. Heavy and continuous rain has fallen for the last thirty hours, and all the rivers are rising steadily. There is no sign of abatement at present, and much of the low-lying land will probably be under water by the morning. New Plymouth, Saturday.
howling southerly gale has been blowing all night. The small fishing boat Ko tahi, belonging to Waitara, whilst sheltering at the breakwater, parted her cable and went ashore, but will probably be hauled up on the boach without injury. The s.s. Takapuna remained at the all night.
Carterton, Saturday.
Heavy rains haye fallen, but no special damage has been done. The rivers are bank high, and low lands are submerged. The town drains are inadequate to carry the storm water, which entered several buildings and filled the Marquis Hotel cellars.
