At the South Australian Jockey Club’s winter meeting the chief event was the Grand National Steeplechase, which resulted as follows: Isis, 12.0 1 Belber, 9.0 ... ... 2 Convoy, 11.7 8 Twelve started. Isis won by two lengths. Time 6.32. Div., U 3 18s.
GRAND NATIONAL MEETING. (Per Press Association.) Christchurch, last nigbt. The weather was bleak but fine for the last day’s racing on Saturday. The totalisator turnovor was 1112,419, against
£12,849 last year, making a total for the meeting of £41,777, against £39,583 last year. The results were : Hunters’ Steeplechase. Agitator 1, Swagger 2, Balfour also started. Won ■' easily. Time 4.19 1-5, div. £1 16s. Heathcote Handicap.—Windwbistle 1, Bed Gauntlet 2, Shrapnel Shell 8. Scratched : Pampero. Won comfortably. Time 1.33 4 , -5, diva. £2 14s and £1 19s 6d. Sydonham Hurdles. —Huku 1, Tradewind 2, Slow Tom 3. Scratched : Victor 11., Battloaxe, Kohunui. Won by a length and a half. Time 3.27 25, divs. £9 16s and 19s 6d. Third HuDters’ Hurdles. —Eeliance 1. Single Event 2, Wonderful 8. Scratched : Fairy Bose, Plain Tom, Piantaganot. Won easily. Time 8.19 4-5, divs. £4 15s 6d : and £2 Is.
