Tho King’s speech, read at the closing of Parliament, trusted that his visit to the Continent had produced a good result. M. Loubet’s visit to England had evoked a striking exhibition of mutual goodwill. Ho mentioned the great progress made in the re-settlement and pacification of the Transvaal and Orange Colonies. He referred to the Balkan troubles, to India, and to Somaliland, whoro he was hopeful future operations would prove more favorable. During his visit to Ireland he noticed with the deepest gratification signs of increasing concord among all classes, presaging, ho hoped, a new era of united effort for genera! welfare. The speech reviewed the chief measures dealt with during the session.
