CHILD MURDER.

Auckland, last night. It is reported from Whakarepa native settlement, near Bawene, Hokianga County, that AnaNgaripo Makarahas been arrested and charged with the murder of her one year-old child on Saturday night. Accused is said to have suffered periodic fits of insanity, and during one of these on Saturday night she left the whare with her child, returning just before daylight without it. Suspicion was aroused among the natives, and a search resulted in the discovery of the child’s body in a swamp. When charged with murder accused replied, " The native does not know what he is talking about.” An inguest is proceeding. .
