Prices are firmer. Average prices to-day arc: Canterbury brand sjd per lb, brands other than Canterbury 5 I-6tb, tegs 4j|d, River Plato lamb 4Jd. Tho beef market is steadier. Hind-quarters of New Zealand beef are quoted at 4Jd per lb, fores 2Jd. Thero is a better demand for ■Won,.Zealand butter. The average price

The .present stock is 849 tons, against 724 at thia date last year. Thero aro signs of improvement in the cocksfoot market, but 00 change in prices. The average price of bright clean New Zealand cooksfoot .seed, weighing 17 lb per bushel, is 46s per owt, c.i.f. The London and Amerioan * r ops are estimated to be below the average quantity and quality.
