DIVORCE COURT.
DIVORCE MADE EASY.
[By Telegrapn—Press Association.] Christchurch, last night.
Emma Dupuis applied for a divorce from William Dupuis, on the grounds that he had deserted her a year after marriage, in 1897. His Honor granted a decree nisi, to be made absolute in three months, and a similar decree was granted on the petition of Mary Ann Garland, for dissolution of marriage with Garland, on the grounds of adultery. A witness said he had obtained divorce from his wife owing to her misconduct with the respondent.
Christopher Hanson applied for a divorce from Christina Hanson, alleging her desertion for five years. The wife’s people had been living with the married couple originally, and the husband, on the plea that he had no authority in the house, made a new home, to which the wife refused to go. His Honor said the case raised a curious point, and such an arrangement made divorce easy. He would consider the matter.
