CHRISTCHURCH NEWS.
(Per Press Association.) Christchurch, last night. The City Council has struck the following rates for the year; Central Ward 2-Jth of a penny in the £, St. Albans ward 221-64 d, Sydenham 35d, Linwood 3£d. At a meeting of the City Council this evening the Mayor said that the financial position on March 31st last was worse than on March 31st of the previous year by .£1412, but retiring allowance and other things partly accounted for the differenee.
