PARLIAMENTARY.
LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. Per Press Association., WELLINGTON, last night. The Council met at 2.30. SECOND READINGS.
The Road and Town Districts Rating Bill and the Inspection of Machinery Bill passed the second reading.
LAND AGENTS BILL. Progress was reported on the Land Agents Bill after the interpretation clause had been excised. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. The House met at 2.30. COLONY’S FINANCES. Mr Seddon stated that he hoped to have the Financial Statement ready next week. LOCAL BILLS. Tho rest of the afternoon was devoted bo local Bills. MIDNIGHT MESSAGE.
' Midnight. The House resumed at 7.30. Local bills were under disoussion until nearly midnight. JUVENILE SMOKERS. Mr Field moved the second reading of the Juvenile Smoking Suppression Bill, which, he said, was identical with the measure he had introduced for the past two years. A similar law was in force in other parts of the world. Mr Seddon supported the Bill, which was under disoussion when the" telegraph office closed.
