LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.

(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, last night. The Council met at 2.30. The Law Praotitioners Bill was read a second lime. HOUSE OP. REPRESENTATIVES. The House met at 2.30. The greater part of the afternoon was spent in discussing the Rotokare Domain Act Repeal Bill, to prevent destruction by lessees of bush on Rotokare Domain, a boautiful and historic spot near Hawera. In the course of ’the discussion Mr Seddon suggested that a Royal Commission should be appointed to go right through the colony and obtain all information regarding bush scenery and beauty spots. Such Bpots should then bo taken over by the State, private owners being paid compensation, and they should be reserved to the people for all time. The Bill was still in its nitial stages at the dinner adjournment. The House resumed at 7.30, and after further lengthy debate the Rotokare Domain Aot Repeal Bill passed the final stages. The Shops, and Offices Bill was read a second time pro forma, and referred to the Labor Bills Committee. The Road and Town Districts Rating Bill, to give increased rating powers to these local bodies, Weights and Measures Bill, providing for the introduction of the metric system, Inspection of Machinery Act Amondment Bill, Gold Duties Bill, and Sand Drift Bill were read a second time. . The House rose at midnight.
