SANDOWN BAOES. By Telograph—Press Association—Copyright London, July 17. At the Sandown Park Mooting the Eclipse Stakes resulted : Ard Patrick 1, Sceptre 2, Bock Sand 3. Oriole and Duke of Westminster also started. Deceived 6.13 p.m., July 19. , London, July 18. Ard Patrick won by a neok, three lengths separating second and third. Book Sand was first away, but Oriole soon nuppiauted him, Ard Patrick and Soeptre being third and fourth. A mile from home Ard Patrick drew in front, followed by Bock Sand and Sceptre; At the quarter mile post Sceptre ran up second, and pressing Ard Patrick the pair fought out a desperate finish. Duke of Westminster was fourth. Mr Qubbins sold Ard Patrick to Count Lamsdorff for twenty thousand guineas, retaining the right to run the horse throughout the season.
WELLINGTON STEEPLECHASE MEETING. (Per Press Association.} Wellington* last night. The weather was beautifully fine for the second day’s races, and "the condition of the course was a great improvement on the first day. The totalisator receipts for the meeting were £7 above the figures for last year’s winter meeting. The following were the results Onslow Handicap.—Platypus 1, Ostiak 2, St. Olga 3. Won'by a neck. Time 1.25 4-6, divs. £lO 15s and £1 9s. Trial Plate. —Commonwealth 1, Black Squall 2, Lee Enfield 3. Won by a length and a half.' 'Time 1.27 2-5, divs. £24 17s fid and £3 16s.
