DEPUTATION TO BE SENT TO

WELLINGTON.

At the meeting of the Cook County Counoil yesterday, the Chairman, Captain Tucker, proposed that the following resolution be sent to the member for the district :—“ The Council wishes to thank you for obtaining authority for the extension of the survey to Motu, and trust that you will be able to get a sum placed on the Estimates for the extension of the railway.” i ■ The Chairman stated he had seen the President of the League, and that he had decided to call a meeting at once. The question of sending a deputation to Wellington was brought up by Cr Gray, who urged that it should be at once set up. He proposed the deputation consist of the Chairman and Cr White.

The motion was seconded by Cr Olayton, and carried unanimonsly. Cr Gray said tbe deputation should go down before the Estimates were framed. He suggested that the Railway League should join in sending a deputation.
