FIRE IN A MINE.

Auckland, last night. A fire in the Waihi mine at No. 6 level was caused by paraffin boiling over. The timber secs caught fire. The mine filled with smoke. All the miners were ordered to the surface:. A sensation was caused by a report that five men were below. They were got to the surface uninjured. The fire was extinguished. The damage is not serious. Waihi, last night. There wore over 400 men in the mine at the time. The fire Was extinguished in the course of an hour, and the men are now returning to work.
