The present weakness of tho pontiff is a groat oostablo to its performance. Owing to the condition of tho Pope the visit of Victor Emanuel to Paris has been postponed to September. Tho Pope is so active that ho disregarded the injunction to remain in bed. Ho often walked with assistance to an arm-chain, where the doctors generally found him, and ordered him to return to bed.

Replying to tho remonstrances of tho doctors he said he wished to die standing. He took beef tea and egg last night. There is a prospect of the patient passing a quiet night. Received 1.15 a.iff., July 13. ROME, July 12. The evening bulletin states that the Pope had a fairly quiet day, in bed. His pulse is stronger and spirits better. The level of liquid remaining after operation ,is stationary.
