THEATRE ROYAL.
MB HARRY RICKARDS’ VAUDE VILLE COMPANY.
The above compauy arrived by the s.s. Tarawera yesterday, and will to-night inaugurate a season of positively two nights only. The company consists of a very strong combination selected from Mr Rickards’ various companies, including some of his most expensive imported artists. They have just concluded a most prosperous season in Auckland, and the theatre going public and others of Gisborne should take full advantage of the oniy two opportunities they will have of seeing such an unique company.
The greatest attraction will be the marvellous musical combination bl Seeley and West, the leading English comedy musicians, just out from the Alhambra Theatro, London, a most laughable magpie sketch in black and white. Also the publio will be able to judge whether “ Mrs Murphy’s Second Husband,” as rendered by Miss Gracie Emmett and her specially selected American comedy company —Miss Frances Gray, Mr Ben J. Miles, and Mr le Roy Wimmer—is not one of the most mirthful Irish comedies they havo seen.
They will also see the new conjuror, “ Olive,” in his new feats of legerdemain, and as he always makes it a point of showing how it is done, they will be enabled to go home and practise how to do it. Mr Wallace Brownlow, the baritono who has been for so many years associated with the leading Opera Companies in England, America, and the Australian States, will also appear.
The other members of the Company will include Baby Capel, the most favorite Australian child soubrette and dancer ; Bert Bradley, the popular tenor balladißt; Madge Thomas, soprano ; and the dashing serio-comic, Florrie Barnes. The performance will be under the musical direction of Mr W. H. Smith, the celebrated oneman orchestra, who will play five instruments simultaneously—the first performance of the kind in New Zealand.
The management announce a complete change of programme by every member of the Company for Tuesday night. It is regrettable the Company can only stay two night, as they are booked to travel by the Waikare on Wednesday.
