CHRISTCHURCH NEWS.

Christchurch, last night. A man named Wm. John Cochrane fell dead while driving a cart in the East Belt to-day. He had been suffering from heart fTfira which started in an outhouse at the rear of Messrs Greeson and Davis’s wine and spirit store last night, spread to the warehouse, and before it was quenched .£l5O worth of damage had been done to the stock, consisting principally of dry goods. The stock is covered by a policy in the National Mortgage Company for £SOO The building is damaged to the extent of about £IOO. The insurance is unknown.
