A MAGNIFICENT DISPLAY,
It is always a pleasure for us to refer to improvements and additions to local business premises, but more especially so when as in tbs case of Messrs Adair Bros, the alterations are of a nature that renders their establishment one of the finest in the colony. Gisborne may be behind the times in respect of water and drainage, but it is quite up-to-date in regard to many of its shops, and the magnificent display that Messrs Adair Bros, are making this evening, when they invite public inspection of their new additions, is convincing proof of this fact, and certainly an occasion that calls lor special comment. In order to keep up with their ever increasing business the firm have just completed extensive alterations, which will give a good deal of extra accommodation aud enable them to display their large and varied stock to better advantage. The premises that were formerly occupied by Messrs Bees Bros, as law offices have been taken by Messrs Adair Bros., and converted into a commodious showroom and offices. The addition has greatly improved the general appearance of the establishment, besides giving the firm much hotter facilities for showing their goods. From the front door to tho end of the shop the length is over 120 feet and the width over 40 feet. The shop iB brilliantly lighted with scores of electric globes, up-to-date cash railways run overhead, and when the rush of business is on the scene inside is a bright aud attractive one. Entering from tho Gladstone road entrance, on the right the visitor’s eye first falls upon the fancy department, where laces, gloves, and thousand and one little articles sought after by members of the fair sex, are stocked in endless variety. At the far eud of the shop is the showroom, which is beautifully furnished aud stocked with a grand assortment of goods so much sought after by the ladies. This department is replete with all the latest novelties, and the ladies that cannot be suited by the willing attendants must be hard to please. In this department are to be found artistically trimmed hats, all the latest styles of jackets, and a great range of winter underclothing, manufactured by the Colonial mills. All the good things are not reserved for the ladios at Messrs Adair Bros.’, for the whole of the left side of the establishment is devoted to the clotbiDg and mercery department, and here is to be found every article of gentlemon’s attire There is a full stock of all the most fashionable goods for winter wear, men’s rain proof coats in all stylos and prices, and a splendid assortment of travelling rugs.
