The frost in Sydney this morning was the heaviest for years. The temperature at daylight was 20.8 exposed sheets of water had a thin coating of tee. In the House of Lords, Earl Grey’s BtiJ for abolishing Ihe King’s accession declaration, on the ground that it was superfluous, was rejected. The Archbishop of Canterbury admitted that the declaration was needlessly offensive. Some guarantee from the Sovereign was, however, still necessary. The Duke of Devonshire said that Government was willing to reintroduce the Bill of 11)01 if the Catholics desired it.
