SLY GROG CASES
By Telegraph—Press Association. Hamilton, last night.
At To Awamutu Mr Northoroft, S.M., postponed hi 3 decision in some Of the King Country sly grog cases, and reserved Others for a jury. The Magistrate referred to the degenerate state of the Natives of the King Country since the advent of white men among them. He had been through the King Country many years ago, when the Natives were a healthy, elean-living, vigorous people, but now the fnen, women, and children were' addicted to drunkenness and other loathsome vices. As for the people who unlawfully sold liquor in the King Country, he intended to send them to gaol when charges were proved before him. This applied to men and women alike. They went into the wretched bnsiness with their eyes open, and must be prepared to take the consequences.
