To-night at tho Drill Hall tho citizens of Auckland gave a farewell ball to His Excellency the Governor and Lady Kanfurly. Greatest efforts hud been mado to make the function a complete success, and the ball proved one of the most successful ever held in Auckland. Tho decorations and all arrangements had been carried out most fully, and tho scone was a decidedly brilliant one. Between 700 and 800 peoplo wore present.

The Council decided “ that it lie a suggestion to the Municipal Association that it should 'attempt to procure legislation empowering Hospital Boards to spend money in land and buildings, throwing on Hospital Boards the onus of providing for the accommodation and treatment of infectious diseases.”
