PERSONAL.
Prior to his departures for America and England, Mr Alfred Price, senior partner in the firm of Price Bros., was presented with a handsome travelling bag, and other valuable presents from residents of tho Thames district. Mr \V. McCullough, exM.L.0., is also departing on a trip to England and the Continent. Sevoral Thames minors and surveyors are proceeding to the gold coast, West Africa, under engagement to a mining syndicate holding extensive properties there. Tho wages of tho miners are to bo X3O per month, and three months’ health furlough in each year. Henry Gordon, Government Mining Engineer, is at present at tho Thames on business connected with the ThamesHauraki largo pumping pluut, recently purchased by the Government.
football. The Thames football team this year play Auckland and Taranaki.
