LADY KANFUKLY’.S AT HOME.
(Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, last night. Lady Ranfurly entertained some six hundred members of the Mothers’ Union at an “ at home," at Government House this 'afternoon. An address on the objects of the Union was given by Bishop Neligan, who also, on behalf of the mothers, presented Lady Ranfurly with a handsome New Zealand rug. Tea was dispensed to the guests, and a wellairanged musical programme contributed to a very successful gathering.
FIRE BRIGADE MAINTENANCE. Tiie City Council to-night decided to ask the Municipal Conierence to request Parliament to legislate in the direction of the cost of Fire Brigades being borne in equal shares by local bodies and the Government and insurance companies. HOSPITAL SITE. The exchange of sites which will allow of the infectious diseases hospital being erected near the general hospital, and which should end the agitation against the Point Chevalier scheme, was approved of.
