FARMERS’ UNION.
'{Per Press Association)^ PALMERSTON N., last night, 'file Farmers’ Union Conference resolved in favor of a graduated scale oi subscriptions, and that the Government be urged to establish an experimental dairy school in the most accessible centre in the North Island. Complaint was made that the Government veterinary surgeons did not visit the outlying districts, and the Government is to be asked to improve the service in that, direction. A motion was carried that a sheep tax be established ; also one that the registration of Maori dogs be placed'in the hands of County Councils and the branding of Maori cattle in the hands of the Stock Department. It. was resolved that the statistics of the exports of wheat end oats be published monthly in-
stead of quarterly ; that co-opera-tive dairy companies be not taxed on credit balances, except those tieated as actual profits ; that it will support any scheme of insur- - nee recommended by the. Colonial Executive. A motion that the Government he asked to encourage immigration and grant assisted passages to suitable persons for domestic and farm service was rejected.
