LATE COAST NEWS.

Dr Davis reports that the epidemic of measles on the Coast is abating. A concert will be held at Waipiro shortly in order to procure funds for the erection of a bridge across the Waipiro creek to the proposed new school site. Tho fixtures of the Waiapu Rugby Union

have been popularly received here. The accident which Air J. Alurphy met with on Saturday at the Tolago-Tokomaru football match was not at first thought to be serious, but the injured player shortly afterwards had to take to his bed in the Te I’uka Hotel, where his wants were attended to by the popular host, Mr Jamison, Dr Davis was called in on Sunday, arid found that a sinew had been strained, which will mean that Air Alurphy will have to rest for a time, and so will not be

able to play football again this season, an announcement which, I am sure, will be regretted in football circles. Air Alurphy bolds a high reputation as a footballer, and will be missed in the forthcoming Cup competitions of the Waiapu Rugby Union. Our Waipiro correspondent telegraphed yesterday : The boundaries of the districts comprising the Waiapu Rugby Union havo been amended as follows —Tuparoa takes in Reporua, and on the north going right over and taking in Pakahiroa, Matahiiu, and Kuirererc. Tokomaru extends to Wniau, including Cotforill’s and Waiparc. Waipiro's northern boundary is the Tuparoa station boundary fence, and out to Mata, Wharcponga, including to the south tbo Arangshawarii creek, und on the west includes Alakariku, Ibunga, Takapau, and Hiruharanui. Tolago Ray extends south to Waiparc, and to the north the Waimoko river,

An impounding notice in connection with the Tokomaru pound appears in this issue. Air A. P. Agnew, the well-known storekeeper ut Tolugo Roy, announces that ho has just received large shipments of Kaiapoi winter goods, including men’s and boys’ clothing, blankots, flannels, shirts, etc., also Kaiapoi boots in all sizes. Air Agnew keeps a full stock of station requisites, and all goods are sold at tho lowest prices.

THUNDERSTORM. A very heavy thunderstorm was experienced along the Coast on Tuesday night, accompanied by heavy rain.

COUNTY COUNCIL. There was no meeting of the Waiapu County Council to-day, it being postponed until the (Mill .Jun;, when Ihe ordinary meeting will ho held, a special meeting taking place afterwards. THE STEAAIER.

The steamer llerahl is due at Port Awanui this morning from Auckland. .SHIPPING FACILITIES. '[’ho people on the Coast arc greatly interested iu the movement made by tho citizens of Gisborne to secure ‘•utter shipping facilities on the Coast,;'and the reply, from the head office of the Union Company, through Mr Oramond, is anticipated with the keenest interest.
