STATUE OF VICTORIA
By Telegraph—Press Association— Christchurch, last night-. The principal ceremony in connection with Kmpire Day was the unveiling of a statue of Queen Victoria on the Jubilee Memorial in Victoria Square. There was a very large attendance of the public, and the ceremony was performed by Mr 3 W'igram, wife of the Mayor of Christchurch. Speeches were delivered by the Mayor, Sir J. Or. Ward, and Mr V. Iteece. The day was oniy partially observed as a holiday.
