A. AND P. ASSOCIATION-
A general meeting of the A. and P. Association was held on Saturday afternoon, there being a large attendance. Among those present were : Messrs Holden (President), Watson, Stracban, Branson, Caesar, Murphy, Dewing, White, Harding, McLean, Oman, Sherratt, Gray, Tuohy, Kirkpatrick, Macfarlane, Hepburn, Kempthorne, Hood, Smith, Wall, Wallis, Eiiott, Bright, Bobbie, McLaughlin, Birrcll, Wil-' liamson, Hall, Dinau, ltees, Miller, Common, Nasmith, Parker (2), Barry, Martin, Redstone, Cameron, Witters, and others. Messrs Skeet, Allen, and J. Hill wore elected members. An application was made on behalf of the Pastoralists Review, for the names of tbe principal breeders of stock.—To be forwarded. A letter from the Secretary of the Poverty Bay Club (Mr Cuming) was read, pointing out that the days fixed for the Show were those which the Racing Conforance had allotted to the Club for their annual fixture. The President said he would like an expression on the subject. It was not the intention of the Society to clash with any other body ; they were not aware that the Racing Conference fixed the dates. Mr White said ne had pointed that out
at the committee meeting. Mr Eliott proposed, and Mr Wall seconded, that the matter be left to the committee.
Mr Hood thought they should have an expression of opinion on tbe subject. There was no desire to depart from tbe old custom of having tbe show and races in the one week.
Mr Williamson proposed, and Mr Stracban seconded, that the committee be recommended to hold the Show on Tuesday and Wednesday. Mr Stracban said he seconded it with the understanding that it was a recommendation, to be decided by the committee. Mr Yviliiamson said be was satisfied with that if the vote were put. Mr Caesar proposed as a further amendment that the Show be held on the following week. Mr Barker seconded that. The Show had previously been held on Thursday and Friday until they had given way to racing.
The Chairman said Mr Caesar's amend meut was out of order.
Mr White urged that there should be no splitting of them up into sections. It they had both gatherings on the one day it would affect both, especially the Show. They were largely the same people. Mr Bright thought they should have one good week of it, no matter what the days were. A resolution from that meeting would practically be au instructi m to the committee, though put in the form of a recommendation. The amendment adopting Tuesday and Wednesday was carried, only four voting against the amendment. On the motion of Mr Bright, it was de-' cided to endorse the affiliation of the technical classes with the Association.
