The Premier arrived at noon, accompanied by Mrs Seddon and family, Hon. Mr Carroll, and Hon. Mr Hall-Jone3. Interviewed at Onehunga, the Premier said he understood from the Education Department that the question of granting a high school for Onehunga was all right. Ho could not understand the delay. The Liberal Labor Federation interview him to-night concerning tho furniture trade dispute.

Later. —In reply to the Trades and Labor Council deputation, the Premier said the Government intended to ask Par-
liament to give preference to unionists, safeguarded so as tliero could be no abuse of the power given by the Legislature. Government would also appoint inspectors of awards, and ho would ask Parliament to perfect the Arbitration Act so that what occurred in the Auckland furniture trade would not occur again. He also expressed the opinion that there was room for a Government F'iro Insurance Department.
