The Agent-General’s cablegram, dated London, May 2nd, states -.—Mutton market dull and weak ; stocks heavy ; Canterbury 4',d, Dunedin, Southland, and Meat Export Co. 4d, other North Island 3:jd. Good demand for lamb, but market weak ; stocks heavy, and widely distributed amongst agents, who are pushing sales ; Canterbury lamb 4?,d, other brands 4}d. Beef is quiet and stocks light; New Zealand hinds 4.1 d, fore 3j;d. Butter is steady. Buyers of cheeso are holding back, expecting prices to go lower ; Now Zealand cheeso 63s and G9s. Hemp is very firm, and tho market is rising in distant deliveries; good, fair Wellington Too 10s, May shipments £3l, June £3O. Cocksfoot is quiet; New Zealand 171 b standard 50s per cwt.
