GISBORNE V/OOLBROKERS’ SALE
The Gisborno Woolbrokers’ Association held their periodical sale of wool, skins, bides, etc., at the Loan and Mercantile’s olfico yesterday afternoon. In addition to the local buyers, there were also present : Messrs Wurnock and Kearsley (Auckland), M. F. liourke and Kelly (Napier), About 450 bales of wool were offered, besides a number of pockets and bags, about 5000 skins, and a largo quantity of bides, pelts, etc. Taking the sale throughout there was a considerable falling off, prices generally being 15 to 20 per cent, lower than the January sale. Only about half of the ileeco wool was sold.
Messrs Williams and Kettlo, who submitted 220 bales and a number of bags of wool, 1500 skins, besides bides, pelts, etc., quote tiie l'ollowiug prices : Crossbred fleece brought up to 4£d, rough crossbred o:, 1 ! to 4}d. Lamb’s wool, crossbred, fetched up to 4.yd, inferior B:jd to 4;}d. Urntclnngs, 2d to 2£d. Pieces, 2,[d to 2:[d. Bellies, 2d to Lucks, lid to l-;jd. Skins were also about 20 per cent, lower than January sale. Tne higliest prico obtained was o.jd per lb. Good sound crossbred skius fetched 3d to 3j)d, medium 2id to 2:)d, rough station skius 2d to 2jd. Pelts, 2d to 6d. Baited skius, Is 2d to Is 7d. iiides, dried, 3?,d per lb. Tallow, in tins, up to 21s. WILLIAMS AND KETTLE’S STOCK SALE.
There was a large attendance at Messrs Williams and Kettle’s monthly stock sale, held at Matawhcro on Thursday, and good prices wero realised. There was a heavy yarding of sheep and cuttle, and nearly every lot was diposed of. The firm quotes the tollowing prices : Forward Z-tootn wethers 10s to 10s sd, medium ditto 8s to 8s 6d ; ewes, fresh fullmouthed, in good condition, 7s 3d to 7 8d; ewes, broken-mouthed, 2s 9d to 4s; full-mouthed ewes, in lamb, 5s to 5s 4d ; cull lambs, 2s 9d to 3s 6d; vveaners, medium, 4s to 4s 3d ; strong, 5s 9d to 6s 3d. A line of woolly weanurs fetched 7s 3d. Cattle.—Springing heilers brought from £5 10s to £6 6s, weaners from £2 2s to £2 15s. Calves, hand-fed, were sold at 15s to ’2ss. toteors, 2-year-olds, brought £4 to £4 ss, 24-year-olds £4 10s, olds £4 10s, 24-yeav-olds to 3 year-olds £4 15s, Fat aud forward bullocks brought up to £7 15s, old cows from £3 to £3 10s, young cows and heifers £3 15s to £4 2s 6d, 18-month-old heifers £3. Cows with calves made £3 15s to £4 10s, light beef cows £4 17s 6d to £5 7s 6d. Porkers ranged from 18s to 225.
