Wanganui, last night. At the annual meeting of the Wanganui Rugby Union Mr Walter Empson was re-elected patron and Mr George Spriggins president. It was resolved to alter the rules, making it optional whether the management committee appoint one or three as a selection committee for representative matches. It was resolved to alter the rules to enable fines to be imposed on teams not playing all their cup matches. POVERTY BAY RUGBY UNION.

At the annual meeting of the Poverty Bay Rugby Union the following officers were elected: —President, Mr E. Murphy, re-clected ; vice-president, Mr Wm. Miller, rc-elected; delegate to New Zealand Union, Mr Simrn ; secretary. Mr L. Williams; treasurer, Mr W. Miller, re elected; auditors, Messrs R. D. B. Robinson and R. Cole, re-elected; management committee, Messrs J. Eaton, H. Maude, J. Nutting, H. W. Symes, and D. C. Hawkins.

Mr H. Maude proposed that appreciation of Mr McCredie's services as lion, secretary be recorded, stating that it was partly owiug to the keen interest Mr MeGrcdie had taken in the Union that the year had proved so successful. Mr H. Webb seconded the proposition, which was carried unanimously. Mr W. MeCredie, in thanking the members, said that it was with regret he was leaving the Union, but circumstances required him to do so. He hoped the Union would meet with every success. During his term of office he had done all that lay in his power to help on the welfare of the Union, and he trusted to continue to assist them as far as possible.

A meeting of all junior footballers will be held at the Masonic Hotel at 7.80 this evening, when matters of interest to junior footballers will be laid before them. The management committee of the Union will be present. A full meeting is required.
