WELLINGTON PACES,

(Per Press Association.) Wellington, last night. There was fine weather for tho second day's racing, and a fair attendance ; about 2500 were present, including tbc Premier. Tho sum of £22,587 went through the machines for the meeting, or £2IOO more than last year. The results were:—

rluL Handicap.—Shrapnel 1, Naicotic 2, Ostiak 3. Scratched : Seylla and St. Denis. From a good start Shrapnol won by a length from Ostiak, who undoubtedly finished second, but Narcotic was given that position. Time 1.43 1-5, divs. £2 4s 6d.

St. Legor Stakes. Kolburn 1 Porirua 2 Lavalctto 3 Scratched : Tercclot and Kingman. Won very easily by fivo lengths. Timo 3.9, div. £5 19s 6d. Muritai Hack Handicap. Betsy 1, Capulct 2, Hydrant 3. All started. Won after a good race Dy three-parts of a length. Time 1.31 1-5, divs. £6 10s 6d aud £1 10s 6d. Autumn Handicap. Cannie Chiel 1 Seylla 2 Terrapin 3 Scratched : General Symons. Motor and Terrapin led for half the journey, when the former died away, and Terrapin led into the straight, where Cannie Chiel and Seylla came with a wet sail, and a great struggle homo resulted in Cannie Chiel winning by a head, Terrapin being a neck away third. Timo 2.10 1-5, div. £2 11s.

Hurdles.—Bellman 1, Smithy 2, Lady Bell 3. All started. Bellman led from start to finish, and won very easily by two lengths. Time 2.48 4-5, divs. £2 8s 6d and £1 Is 6d.

Pacific Handicap.—Exmoor 1, Auratus 2, Loloh 3. All started. Sea Lion was coupled with Exmoor on the machino. Exmoor led all the way, and won very easily by two lengths. Time 1.17 1-5, divs. £2 Ss Gd and £1 6s 6d.

Belmont Hack Handicap. Waitoti 2, Hatley 3. Scratched : Valima and Position. Won very easily despite the fact that ho carried nearly a stone overweight. Time 1,17 25, divs. £9 4s 6d and £2 14s.

Suburban Handicap. Tikarawa 1, Shrapnel Shell 2, Pure Silver 3. Scratched : Ostiak, Loicb, and Somericd. Bed Gauntlet and Palius were in fron t when tho horses turned for home, but here Tikarawa came with a great rush, and won by a couple of lengths, paying the best dividend of the meeting. Time 1,29, divs. £l3 4s and £3 11s.

Sir Geo. Clifford won T6OO in stakes, and S, L. Parsons T 440.

AVONDALE RACES,

Per Press Association, Auckland, last night. For tho Avondale Jockey Club’s autumn meoting, first day, tho weather was beautifully fine. Thoro was a largo attendance. Tho totalisator receipts for tho day was T 5839. The results wore :

Maiden Plate.—Glasgow 1, Hinetapauriki 2, Bastion 3. Scratched: Bobs, lan, Irish, Millie. Leo Delaval fell, and his rider (Phillips) sustained a slight concussion. Time 1.18, divs. £7 4s and jGI 15s.

Handicap Hurdles.—Lingard 1, Mokomoko 2, Hippowai 3. Scratched: Inchcape. Time 3.57 2-5, div. £2 Bs. Juvenile Handicap.—Lady Bobs 1, Itopa 2, Delauia 3. Scratched: Lady Annie. Time 1.4 2-5, divs. £7 16s and £l.

Avondale Handicap.—The Needle 1, Laudlock 2, Northumberland 3. Scratched: Mars. Time 2.10 3-5, divs. £5 7s and T 1 12s.

First Pony Handicap.—Forth 1, Miami 2, Girton Girl 3. Scratched: Sonica, Annoyed, Inspiration, Sandow, Sweet Marie. Time 1.19, divs. Til Is and £1 7s.
