FIRES.

(Per Press Association.) IJawera, last night. The homestead of J. Morrison, of Hur-lc-yville, near Paten, was destroyed by lire early ibis morning. The family escaped with difficulty in their night clothes, and their loss is very severe.

Auckland, last night. On Sunday night a fire was discovered in the top storey of Brown, Barrett and Company’s three storey warehouse in Customs'street. The tire bad evidently originated in the paper bag and label department. In bad partly burned a Hooting and wooden partition, but was extinguished without further damage. The cause of the fire is a mystery. The premises had been locked up since Saturday afternoon, and there was no sign of tho place having since been entered. Tbensurance on the building and contents totalled £12,000.
