LABOR CONFERENCE.

By Telegraph—Press Association. Greyniouth, last night. The Labor Conference resumed its sittings this morning. It was resolved to urge the Government to prohibit any further sale of Crown lands, and secure periodical revaluation of Crown lands held on lease. The report of the Committee on a State bank of issue, recommending that petitions bo circulated for signatures and presented to Parliament praying for the establishment of a State bank and that the Conference appoint a deputation to wait on the Premier on the matter, was adopted. A committee recommended that tho Workers Compensation Act Amendment Act, 1902, be amended by striking out clauso It, and inserting in lieu thereof the following compensation to which a worker should bo entitled : After the first four weeks under the principal Ace in respect of his total or partial incapacity, a weekly payment not exceeding 50 per centum of his average weekly earnings calculated for a periad during which he was at work. This was adopted. It was resolved that the Government be urged to take immediate steps to restrict combinations or trusts from inflating the price of broad or other commodities, either by making such combinations illegal, or by nationalising milling, bakiDg, and other industries.
